About Artist;

Gulsum Keskinoglu, a New York City artist, was born in 1989 in Afyonkarahisar, Turkey. She embarked on her artistic journey by studying at Isparta Anatolian Fine Art High School in the Department of Painting. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mugla Faculty in Bodrum, majoring in Fine Arts with a focus on Sculpture. Her artistic exploration began with national group exhibitions, and she expanded her skills under the guidance of ceramic artist Tevfik Turen Karagozoglu in Bodrum, which eventually led to her first solo exhibition in Bodrum in 2015.

Gulsum Keskinoglu's art transcends boundaries and captures the essence of her diverse experiences. Drawing inspiration from her Turkish upbringing, she merges her world of growing up in Turkey with the dynamics of New York City life.

Since 2014, Gulsum has made a significant impact on the international art scene. Her work encompasses a wide range, from sculpture and ceramic art rooted in her Turkish heritage to intricately detailed paintings depicting vulvas and the female form. She's even ventured into creating remarkable pieces, weaving 100,000 needles and transparent linoleum. Her exhibitions convey a powerful narrative about the constraints placed on women in societies marked by emotional restrictions.

In 2019, Gulsum made her mark in the New York art scene with a solo exhibition at the New York Superfine Art Fair in May. She also participated in a group show at the Soho Art Show in October and held her first solo gallery at Dacia Gallery in December, contributing to the "Artifacts 2019" exhibition. These shows were resounding successes, as Gulsum's politically charged sculptures and paintings continue to captivate audiences.

As an international artist, Gulsum Keskinoglu consistently exhibits her work individually and collectively. Her art has been showcased in prestigious venues worldwide, including galleries and art spaces in New York, Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, France, and beyond. She has demonstrated her artistic prowess in diverse cultural settings, from Paris to Kyiv and Miami to Athens.

In May 2023, Gulsum achieved a significant milestone by opening her own gallery in Williamsburg, marking a new chapter in her artistic journey.

In April 2022, Gulsum exhibited at ArtExpo, New York's largest Fine Art Trade Fair, where Patan Art Gallery extended an invitation for her to participate in a group exhibition at Fouart Gallery in Paris, France from June to July 2022.

Continuing her groundbreaking art, Gulsum has been invited by Uskudar University Faculty of Fine Arts and Pinelo Art Gallery to serve as a jury and coordinator for several student exhibitions, to be held in Athens, Greece, Chios Island, and New York. Her commitment to the art community extends beyond her creations, nurturing the next generation of artists.
